General Facilities
The department of Computer Science and Engineering bloomed in 1998. The blooming department is headed by Dr. K.V.N.Sunitha. The growth of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, is taking strides in strength and in facilities year after year. The Department offers a four-year course of Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and Engineering with an intake of 120 and two-year course of Master’s degree in Computer science with an intake of 18.
The Department is known for its reputed faculty having expertise in diverse fields. It has built up a wide research potential. The research programmes of the department are funded by various agencies such as AICTE,CSI. The department is accredited by NBA in 2007.the department consists of computer labs with cost of 75 lakhs.
The venerable CYBERSUDS is an informal association of students and faculty of CSE. It was founded in the year of 2005 to promote communication over a broad range of computer related issues and topics. CYBERSUDS hosts a series of frequent special internet group meetings. Several specialists have been invited from the industries to share their experiences. The department is also running GNITS CSI student chapter under the guidance of student branch counselor. It has CSI Institutional Membership for a period of 7 years with more than 200 students & faculty as members. It conducts various technical events for the benefit of students in academics.
Faculty:
Dr. K.V.N.Sunitha, a young and dynamic personality with 21 years of teaching experience is heading the Dept since inception. She is a recipient of Academic Excellence award by GNITS in 2004. She has received “Best computer engineering Teacher award” by ISTE (Indian society for Technical education) in Feb 2008.Her autobiography is included in Marquis who is who in the world ,28th edition 2011.She has published more than 55 papers in International & National Journals and conferences. She is ably supported by a team of dedicated faculty comprising of 2 professors, 4 Associate Professors and 19 Assistant Professors. On the strength of their wide experience & abundant knowledge the senior faculty of the department are providing effective academic guidance and impart leadership qualities to the students. All the faculty in the dept. are post graduates. Six faculty members are doing their Ph.D under JNTUH.
PG Course
PG Course started in the year 2007 with the specialization “Computer Science” in the department with an intake of 18 students. A full fledged laboratory with high end systems is provided for the PG students. Two batches of students have already obtained their degree and are well settled.
Infrastructure
CL-1 Lab caters the need of II and III year students. Object oriented programming, Operating Systems, UNIX; Network programming Language Processors lab are conducted here. This lab consists of high end systems, with hardware costs 11 lakhs and having latest Softwares like Oracle9i, Visualstudio.NET, Turbo C++, Photoshop, Flash, Dream weaver, Netbeans,MS Office,Federo 8,MySQL Etc. It also contains 2 printers exclusively for students.
CL-2 Lab caters the need of M.Tech students. OOAD and DDB labs are conducted here. This lab consists of high end systems with hardware costs 6lakhs and having latest Software like Oracle9i,Rational Rose, Turbo C++ etc.
CL-3 Lab caters the need of final year students to do their project work. Web technologies lab is also conducted here. This lab consists of high end systems with latest Software like Oracle 10g ,Turbo C++, Netbeans, EditPlus, Photoshop, Flash, Dream weaver Etc.
CL-4 – This lab is exclusively used for first year students. It consists high end systems with Windows-XP, MS Office, turbo C software. It is used for conducting IT Workshops.
Department Library-
The department has started its own library and has about 400 titles which include books on all semester related subjects and their reference books in addition to central library facility with 7165 titles of 31880 volumes.
Student Achievements
Students of CSE department have made remarkable achievements both in academics and sports. Among all the JNTU colleges, CSE students have proved excellent in academics for the past 4 years. The students performed well in GATE, GRE, and TOFEL. Recently, Ms Spandana of 2011 batch selected for the prestigious YOUNG INDIA FELLOWSHIP program in may 2011. Among all the JNTUH affiliated colleges Ms Tejeswini scored 1st rank in 1st Year (2009-2010). Ms.Spandana of IV B.Tech CSE 2011 batch has been selected for the prestigious award of “Young India Fellowship 2011”. She has got Rs 8 lakhs educational scholarship to do a 1 year management course at Noida New Delhi.
Placements
The Training & Placement cell introduced the industrial practices to students, training them in the college workshops . The Department of CSE conducts value added courses on recent technologies to help students get placed. The department had excellent placement record from the inception. 2011 batch students had 100% placement in different top companies like JPMorgan chase, Deoitte , Infosys, Accenture, Mahindra, Satyam, CapGemini, Birlasot, Persistent, Kony solutions, ADP,infotech, Syntel, hsbc, powerwave, Robertbosch, HP infra,Redpine solutions and Apps Associates. The salary package vary from 2.8 lakhs to 7 l per anum.
Result analysis
The students of CSE have good academic records with more distinctions in the university examinations. Among all the JNTU Hyderabad colleges for the past 5 years, CSE department is within top 3 positions. In the recent results of final year , pass percentage is 100%.
Sports
Students of CSE department have marked several remarkable achievements in sports. College overall champions in throw ball , basket ball are there in the Dept. They won many titles at national & college level Tournaments.
