HISTORY:

The department of ECE was started in the year 1997 with an intake of 60 students. The intake was increased to 120 students from 2002. A Separate block is provided to develop the department as a center of excellence. The department has established eight laboratories namely Analog Communication laboratory, Pulse & Digital Circuits laboratory, Integrated Circuits & Applications laboratory, Electronic Circuit Analysis laboratory, Microprocessor & Micro controller laboratory, Electronic Computer Aided design laboratory, Digital communications laboratory and Microwave & Optical communications laboratory, which are fully equipped with test & measuring equipment and trainers specially designed for lab work. With a strength of 60 students for each class, a total of 6 classrooms are provided in the department. In addition to them each floor has a common hall.

The dept has dedicated and experienced faculty of 22 teaching staff & 7 non-teaching staff. Well-furnished staff rooms are provided in sufficient number, to accommodate the staff.

The Alumnae of all the past four years are well-placed in reputed organizations like INFOSYS, SATYAM, GE, WIPRO, ADP-Wilco & Polaris etc. Some of them are pursuing M.Tech, MBA and MS courses in India & abroad. Some of the present final year students have already been selected in interviews conducted by Satyam, Virtusa, LVL7 & Value labs etc.

INFRASTRUCTURE:

The ECE department has separate block with the eight laboratories with state-of-art equipment. The total amount spent to establish all the laboratories is about 70 Lakhs. The total area of ECE dept is 2399 sq.mtrs. The department has six classrooms equipped with overhead projectors. The department also has one LCD projector, 3 CD writers, one scanner, 3 printers, 70 computer systems that are networked. For departmental works, 4 systems with CD writer and Net facilities are provided in HOD's room. The classrooms are well ventilated and furnished with black board, white screen, overhead projector etc. Departmental library, Electronic Hobby center, Seminar Hall & one common Hall in each floor of the building are highlights of the department.

LABORATORIES:
During the last 5 (five) years, the department has developed the complete infrastructure required for conducting regular theory classes and laboratories for practicals related to B.Tech undergraduate program. The department has spent a substantial amount for procuring useful software packages such as VHDL, XILINX, MATLAB, P-SPICE & KIEL software etc. Communication laboratory is quite well-equipped with seven microwave benches, optical communication trainer kits, Digital & Analog Communication trainer kits, storage oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer (500MHz) etc. With sufficient trainer kits and software packages in Microprocessor & Micro controller laboratory, the ECE department conducted two workshops on Micro controllers namely MICON 2002 & MICON 2003. The well-established Electronic Computer Aided Design (ECAD) laboratory facilitated in organizing a workshop on VLSI design in the year 2004. The following laboratories are established and are well equipped as per the curriculum requirements.

Analog Communication (AC) Lab:
The Laboratory is well equipped with different modulation kits along with two number of spectrum analyzers. Digital storage oscilloscope, a Dynamic Radio Demonstrator & a Fiber optic Voice Transmitter & Receiver.

Integrated Circuits and Applications (ICA) Lab:

The laboratory consists of about 50 experimental trainer kits on linear and digital IC Applications. Apart from this, the lab has an IC tester, Bread Board trainer kits, 20MHz CRO's, Function Generators etc. The lab caters to the needs of all branches of the institution.

Pulse Digital Circuits (PDC) Lab:
The Laboratory is well equipped with different kits such as Multivibrators, Schmitt trigger, logic gates, Flip-Flops, Linear & Non linear wave shaping, sweep circuits, combinational circuits, relaxation oscillator. The Lab also consists of sufficient number of CRO's, digital multimeters, Function & signal Generators, Regulated power supplies, Decade resistance boxes etc.

Microprocessor & Micro controller (MP&MC) Lab:
The laboratory has been established to satisfy the needs in the area of microprocessors & Micro controllers focusing on embedded systems. The Lab has 21 micro controller kits and 15 microprocessor kits. A wide range of micro controllers and microprocessors are available for experiments and project work. Further smart card development kits, wireless application Modules are also available. In addition to these there are 36networked computer systems with latest configuration.

Micro Wave & Optical Communication (MW&OC) Lab:
This laboratory is well equipped with 5 Reflex Klystron test benches, 3 Gunn Oscillators test benches with different kinds of loads. It also consists of VSWR meters, CRO's, fiber optic trainer kits for determining the characteristics of LED and photo detector. Radiation patterns are determined using different kinds of antennas like Pyramid, E-Plane, H-Plane horns etc.

Digital Communication (DC) Lab:
The laboratory has a number of Digital communication trainer kits like TDM, PPM, PCM, PAM, PSK, FSK, ASK. The lab also consists sufficient number of CRO's, Power supplies and storage CRO of 50 MHz

Electronic Circuit Analysis (ECA) Lab:
The students are trained to design various power amplifiers, Regulators, tuned amplifiers using Multisim software and hardware trainer kits. The lab has 33 systems, which are networked.

Electronic Computer Aided Design (ECAD) Lab:
The lab has sufficient number of systems with networking. The lab has software such as Active HDL (15 user keys), Synthesis XILINX universal trainer unit, FPGA, simplify pro synthesis tool (2 user keys), VLSI Design suit consisting of universal base unit, XILINX CPLD module & a X.
