Aarushi Energy Swaraj Club

Climate Change is accelerating at a very fast pace, and therefore, the efforts need to be accelerated. To create awareness about the climate change happening and motivate all to take an action in reducing the climate change, Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki, IIT Bombay started Energy swaraj foundation. Energy Swaraj Foundation is taking its actions “Energy by Locals for Locals”.  This is not-for-profit organization, formed to establish energy swaraj across the world. As a part of creating awareness, Energy Swaraj Yatra is started using Solar bus which is heart of Energy Swaraj Movement planned to combine synergies of climate change mitigation efforts. The yatra is planned across the country starting from November 2020 until December 2030, nearly 11 years long, to create Energy Swaraj as a public movement.

AS a part of Energy swaraj yatra, Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki along with his team visited our campus on 24th February, 2022.

Motivation to start the Club: Energy Swaraj Yatra Visit to the GNITS on 24-02-2022 and the guest lecture delivered by Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki, Professor IIT Bombay on the change happening in climate and the responsibility of each individual in protecting the mother earth from raise in temperature.

After the Visit of Prof. Solanki, Solar man of India, Energy swaraj club is initiated to spread the climate change awareness among the locals through GNITS on 16th March, 2022. Later it is named as Aarushi Energy Swaraj Club.

 

AARUSHI Energy Swaraj Club: With the support of GNITS principal, Dr.K.Ramesh Reddy and EEE-HOD, Dr. N. Malla Reddy , Aarushi Energy swaraj Club is evolved in GNITS in the month of March and named in the month of April.

AARUSHI meaning is First rays of sun. As the activities designed in it are mainly to bring the awareness about the climate changes, the name is given accordingly.

Vision: To create awareness about the climate change and motivate society towards energy conservation and achieve Energy independence by adopting Renewable based energy generation.

Mission: To Avoid the wastage of Energy, Minimise the usage of electricity, Generate the energy using Renewable energy sources to become energy independent.

Action points of the Energy Swaraj Club:

 

  • Creating awareness in students, Teaching & Non-Teaching Faculty and the public on the Energy usage and literate them through Energy Literacy Training Program.
  • Rewarding the students who practice Energy conservation
  • Hands On training programs to develop Renewable Energy based portable devices.
  • Innovative idea competitions to the students to churn the ideas on Energy conservation
  • Creating awareness about the energy usage in the nearby schools and also educating the public on Energy utilisation and conservation.
  • Case studies on Energy conservations and coming up with ideas to reduce the Climate change.

Members of the Club:

The club members are framed on 24th April 2022. Below shown is the list of club members who registered initially. Later on, the strength of the club is increased and at present there are nearly 45 members (both students and Faculty) who completed the Energy Literacy Training program designed by prof. Solanki.
