Infrastructure

The EEE department has a separate block with fifteen laboratories and state-of-art equipment. The total amount spent to establish all the laboratories is about 2 Crores. The total area of EEE dept. is 3017 sq.mtrs. The department has Six B.Tech and one M.Tech Lecture Halls equipped with overhead projectors and a smart board is mounted in the seminar hall. The department also has ten LCD projectors, scanner, printers, 130 computer systems that are networked. The lecture halls are well ventilated and furnished with chalkboard, white screen and overhead projector. Departmental library, Project Lab, Seminar Hall & common Hall are the highpoints of the department.

LABORATORIES:

During the last 22 (Twenty Two) years, the department has developed the complete infrastructure required for conducting regular theory classes and laboratories for practical’s related to B.Tech & M.Tech(PEED) programs. The department has spent a substantial amount for procuring useful software packages such as MATLAB 2020b (unlimited licenses), P-SPICE, PSCAD, MI Power& KIEL µ5 software etc. Microprocessor & Micro controller laboratory has sufficient trainer kits, software packages.

 Electrical Machines Lab

 This is the main lab where We provide the students a chance to put theory into practice. This lab facilitates the students to study the operation and practical implementation to analyse the performance of various Electrical DC and AC Machines.

Experiments like load tests on various machines, speed control tests, open circuit tests, short circuit tests, etc. are carried out. And also a wide variety of practical experiments are performed here with a combination of different rotating machines.

Major Equipment like Rectifier unit, Machine tutor, motor-generator set, motor- alternator set, induction motor, synchronous motor, variety of transformers, lamp loads, inductive loads, resistive loads, compound machines, tachometers, voltmeters ammeters, watt-meters, rheostats, variety of starters, DC motors, etc.

Full Set Up for Assembling Rotating Electric Machines, Both for Direct Current and for Alternating Current with All Standard Specifications.

The Overall Cost of the Above Equipment Alone Is Around Rs.19,88,000/-

Basic Electrical Engineering Lab(1)

The Main objective of this Laboratory is to impart the basic fundamental Knowledge in the domain of Electrical Engineering to all the undergraduate students. In this lab, students are expected to get hands on experience in using the basic measuring devices and interpret the results of measurement. The lab was established in the year 2011 spanning over an area of 155 Sq.mts with a budget of 11 Lakhs Rupees to cater the needs of I B Tech I & II Sem students.

Electrical Circuits Analysis Lab

Electrical Circuit Analysis (ECA) Lab, caters II-year B. Tech students in Semester-I as per the academic curriculum. Lab experiments are chosen to provide practical exposure and hands on experience to the topics studied in the subject “Electrical Circuit Analysis” which is taught during the same
semester. Experiments include both Physical and software application. This lab acts are extension to BEE lab done in first year and make students learn the basics of Simulation/ Programming which helps them in doing their Mini/ Major projects in future semesters.

 

Electrical Measurements & Instrumentation Lab: For any engineer it is necessary to know the fundamentals of measurements and various modern measuring instruments. In this context ,the lab has been established with bridges to measure the resistance, inductance, capacitance and equipment to measure the voltage,  current , power, energy, displacement, power factor. The lab also has major equipment like Oil Testing kit, Testing of CT’s & PT’s, transformer turns ratio measurement kit.

 

Control Systems Lab

Control systems Lab is one of the oldest labs established in the EEE Dept having a plinth area of about 100 sq mts. It has been functional since the inception of the Institution. With the latest state of art equipment, the total worth of the equipment is about 11.2 Lakhs. The unique feature of this lab is that it has 1Φ, 3Φ and also DC Supply making it the most suitable arena to perform research activities.

The major equipment includes Programmable Logic Controllers, 3Φ dimmerstat and “Transfer Function of DC Motor/Generator kit”. In addition there are 08 systems of latest configuration where the students can carry out simulation experiments on the MATLAB platform. An Internet facility is also provided in the lab.

Power Electronics Lab:

Power Electronics Lab is  established in the EEE Dept having a plinth area of about 120 sq mts. It has been functional since the inception of the Institution. With the latest state of art equipment, the total worth of the equipment is about 15 Lakhs. It is served for B.tech III year students and mini projects.

The major equipment includes three phase dual converter, 3Φ PWM Inverter ,1Φ half & fully controlled converters and Φ half controlled converter. In addition there are 04 systems of latest configuration where the students can carry out simulation experiments on the MATLAB platform. An Internet facility is also provided in the lab.

 

 Basic Electrical Engineering Lab (2)

 To Meet the practical aspects of all the first year undergraduate students an additional Basic Electrical Engineering lab was set up in the year 2018 with a budget around 19 lakhs in area of 98 sq.m. This lab lays a firm foundation of what is to be learned throughout the engineering curriculum. It includes the major equipment like DC Shunt motor with Mechanical braking drum arrangement, Squirrel Cage Induction Motor Coupled with Mechanical Loading Arrangement and three phase transformers.

Power Systems Lab

This lab is installed with the latest models of Power System Transmission lines and its associated equipment. It caters the needs of III B.Tech students. Major equipment in the lab are Transmission Line Model, IDMT Relays and Differential Relays etc. Computers with latest configuration are available to simulate the Power System issues.

Projects Lab

Project lab started with the motto of encouraging true experimenting nature of engineering students. This lab contains soldering kits, electronic components, testing and measuring equipment required for completing the hobby projects, mini projects, main projects etc. During free time any student / staff of any department can come to this center for completing their projects. This center is consistently supported by staff.

Microprocessor & Microcontroller (MP&MC) Lab: The laboratory has been established to satisfy the needs in the area of Microprocessors & Microcontroller applications in electrical and electronics engineering. The Lab has Keil & µ5 software and has 15 microcontroller trainer kits and 25 microprocessor trainer kits. This lab is equipped with 52 networked computer systems with latest configuration. For demonstration and explanation of the experiments an LCD projector is fixed. A 10KVA UPS is available for uninterrupted power. Arduino kits are provided for student’s projects.

Simulation lab (UG): This lab has 52 number of systems with networking to implement the basic concepts in Electrical and Electronics using MATLAB software with unlimited campus wide License.

Python lab

Python lab is the academic lab catering the 2nd year having an area of 1225sq.m, and the no. Of systems in the lab is 73. This lab is used for the purpose of CRT and Hackathons organized in the department

Research & Development Centre: The R&D Centre has 10 computers with internet access. The R&D centre is exclusively for PG & UG Students of the EEE Department. The R&D centre is manned by dedicated staff. The R&D centre equipped with the latest software and hardware equipment to meet the needs of research work. Tools like MATLAB 2020b (unlimited licenses), P-SPICE, PSCAD, MI Power& KIEL µ5 software etc. are available for the research work.

M.Tech-PEED (Power Electronics and Electric Drives)

Advanced Power Electronics Lab:

This lab has been established to provide a real time exposure on controlling various modes of operation of an electrical machine. The lab is equipped with various advanced equipment like four channeled Digital storage oscilloscope, Three phase matrix Converter, Spartan 6FPGA, Power Quality Analyser, PLC based motor control, MATLAB 2020b,MPPT for solar system etc. A 10KVA UPS is available for uninterrupted power.

Simulation Lab (PG):

This lab has 20 systems and a printer with networking to implement the concepts of Power Electronics and Electrical drives using MATLAB software with unlimited campus wide License. This lab is exclusively for PG students to succeed in their research work in the department.
