Milestones of the Department

The eminent Sports Persons who visited GNITS as Chief Guests for Inter Engineering college Sports meets

  The department of Physical Education was established in the year 2002 to inculcate sports culture among GNITS students.

The first Inter Engineering college Sports meet for women was started in the year 2003.

Indoor Badminton stadium was inaugurated by International Badminton Players Ms. Shruthi Kurien and Mr. Vidyadhar in 2009.

GNITS won the First JNTU Girls Games and Sports Over all championship in 2005.

GNITS won the JNTU Central Zone boys and girls over all championship trophy  during 2013-14 by securing highest number of points than any other co-ed colleges of JNTU in the state.

GNITS got the JNTU zone-a Boys and Girls over all championship trophy  during 2013-14 and 2014-15 by securing highest number of points   among  the colleges of JNTU in the state

GNITS got JNTU  central zone sports and games girls over all championship from past 11 years consecutively.

GNITS got JNTUH zone-A Gilts Games and Sports over all championship from past 8 years consecutively.

During 2013-14, two tennis players from this college represented JNTU in the South zone Inter University Tournament and won Silver Medal at KIIT, Bhubaneshwar  and participated in inter zonal Inter University tennis Tournament at Nasik ,Maharashtra.

From 2003 to 2023, GNITS won 905 titles in different Sports and Games at various  District level, state level and National level Inter college tournaments.

From 2003-2023, 226 Students represented JNTU in the  All India inter university tournaments in different sports.

56 GNITS Throw Ball Players represented Telangana Throw ball team in various Junior and Senior national Throw ball Championships during 2016-23.

Open Gym with 17 stations was installed at GNITS campus and Hostel in 2021.

PRANATHI VARMA M is the 1st student to represent South Zone All India University Tournament(2016-17) in 3 different sports disciplines- Basket Ball, Net Ball and Hand Ball.

Bhanu Chandrika – ECE ( 2016-2020) was the fastest Athlete of Telangana state, She secured Gold medals in 100, 200, 400 meters Run at the South meet held at Hyderabad during August 2017 & won Bronze Medals in 100 meters , 4 x 100 meters relay Run at South Zone Nationals held at Kakinada, & at Junior Nationals Held in Vijayawada.

Dhamanika – II EEE (Roll No. 22251A02A8) secured Second Runner up in the IFA World tour  Fistball National Ranking Championship held from 29th to 31st May 2023 at Pushpagiri, Tamilnadu.

Dhamanika – II EEE (Roll No. 22251A02A8) secured  First Runner up in the 7th Senior National Fistball Championship  held at Dindigul, Tamilnadu  on 26th and 27th October 2023.
