World Environment Day

Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated annually on 5 June and encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment. GNITS is committed to in taking environment protection initiatives. Awareness programmes on Environmental protection and the need for its protection are conducted by the Department of Basic Sciences through seminars, workshops and guest lectures. Every year a  theme is given for  the World Environment Day  to conduct various activities addressing the theme.

The theme for the World Environment Day for the year 2023  is ‘Only One Earth’, where entire life survives, but due to various indiscriminate activities of man such as burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, mining, construction of dams, roads and railway lines cause enormous damage to environment and its components.
